SMART GRID READY
The ValueBox has the SG Ready Label
SG Ready heat pumps help smooth grid peaks, optimise the use of PV electricity and reduce electricity costs.
SG stands for Smart Grid, and the heat pump is equipped with an interface allowing it to receive and respond intelligently to external control signals. These signals can come from an energy supplier, a smart meter gateway, an energy management system or your own photovoltaic system.
Using four defined operating modes, energy suppliers or energy management systems can block, operate normally or deliberately ‘boost’ the heat pump, for example when there is a PV surplus. As part of intelligent load management, your energy supplier or energy management system can:
- Temporarily restrict operation to avoid grid peaks
- Activate the heat pump when a lot of renewable electricity is available
- Use surplus electricity to heat up the buffer tank or domestic hot water tank.
