A sustainable vision
Maersk, the global leader in shipping services, is opening a new 35,000 sqm state-of-the-art on-terminal distribution centre in the port of Rotterdam, The Netherlands that can provide storage for over 34,000 pallets of cold chain products.
The new facility will have 16 cold rooms with temperatures ranging from -25°C to 20°C. It will store pharmaceutical products, fresh fruits and vegetables, fish, seafood and protein.

Requirements
As part of Maersk’s commitment to reach net zero, the new distribution centre in Rotterdam had strict energy management requirements, and among them was an sustainable climate solution that included cooling, freezing and heating at the same time.
Moreover, reliability was of upmost importance as some of the products stored are sensitive to temperature changes and expensive.

- 700 kW freezing capacity
- 2.4 MW heating capacity
- Heat recovery for floor heating in the freezer area and the cross-dock, hot tap water, comfort heating and hot gas defrost
- Permanent Magnet Motors on all compressors
A SHARED VISION
Maersk is committed to the Science Based Target Initiatives (SBTI’s) and aims to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions in 2040. Maersk’s targets not only relate to the ocean fleet but also cover all direct and indirect emissions across the entire Maersk business.
Maersk and Advansor have a shared vision of becoming carbon neutral. This was also one of the reasons why Maersk picked Advansor as a supplier for the new distribution centre in Hamilton.
Advansor is ISO 50001 certified in Energy Management which is an important part of our goal of becoming carbon neutral in 2025 and helping customers like Maersk fulfil their climate action goals.
